WHEN: SATURDAY, MARCH 19, 2011 11:00 AM

WHERE: Northern California Veterans Cemetery On Gaspoint Road In Igo, California

WHAT:

Months of hard work and dedicated effort have paid off. In spite of weeks of delays due to weather, the long awaited Veterans Memorial Chapel Building located at the Northern California Veterans Cemetery in Igo, California is finally nearing completion with a final push to complete the finishing touches on the chapel.

Retired State Senator, Maurice Johannessen, who spearheaded this project, said that watching this building unfold has been a long labor of love as he watches the chapel near completion. “Putting this project together has been my wife Marianne’s and my honor to do, ” said Johannessen. “We are so grateful to our veterans and their families. It has been our honor to pay tribute to them with this memorial chapel dedicated to serving them for many decades to come.”

There will be a formal ceremony to dedicate the chapel on Saturday, March 19, starting at 11:00 am.

The dedication ceremony will be followed by a reception and a memorial service for at least 25 veterans whose remains were recovered by the Missing in America Project.

The MIAP memorial service will be a multi-faith service with leaders from many local spiritual communities participating. The public is invited to attend the chapel dedication, as well as the reception and the MIAP memorial service
