Like you I see far too much waste in my profession. You talk of unnecessary bloated military budgets, duplication, and Admin overload. The same applies to Calif Corrections. But bloated bureaucracies hardly ever cut where necessary. Instead of cutting Admin It's the sliver who gets hurt the worst.

Yes, I and a whole lot of others will be extremely pleased to support Colonel Pete Stiglich for Congress in the June 2012 primary election as voters will select him to be their candidate for the Republican Party.

Although a long time Republican, I still reserve the right to call my own elected Republican leaders onto the carpet when I believe they have violated our shared conservative values, when they have been unethical or ineffective and when they fail to meet my expectations of them.

As you know, I criticized Congressman Herger for refusing the debate me in the primary, as well as for not debating Jim Reed, the democrat, in the general election. There was absolutely no excuse for not engaging in civil debate and I will continue to exercise my right to criticize or comment on public officials actions, whether Democrat or Republican, in the future.

Any Constichuet should be fearful of voting for a canidate that was hired to serve as a elected official, and then choses NOT to debate! He then should be scrutinized as NOT doing his job! Healthy debates are a proven forum to help select the Right person for the very important job! Last election, Herger personally chose not to debate, and offered no valid reasoning to refuse to debate! As well, I have experienced that during his visits to the Redding Tea Party, he will not answer questions! He pointed at two different men, not together and making statements directed to them, I am not going to answer you at all.. you follow me around, I remember you! They don't even get their questions out and he is denying them. One lady approaced and asked her question very clearly, and he refused to answer her question, only responding that he was there to speak about Paul Ryans proposal regarding changing social security and medicare..and would refuse to answer questions! And I for one…so sick of hearing the same ole, same ole rhectoric that he grew up milking cows and he know's what it's like to own a small business!

Early in Mr. Herger's being a member of the house I discovered that he doesn't answer questions; he skillfully changes the subject particularly when I would ask the question: "Is that bill (or piece of legislation) Constitutional?" I finally decided after one such personal discussion that it is useless to talk to him about the Constitution. He appearsto lack any knowledge or understanding of the Constitution- wording or constraints. My experience with Mr. Herger convinces me that we need a change especially in that to be of use in his position as defender of our liberties he must be aggressive as well as "vote the right way" when bad legilation is proposed. It's not enough to have a nice man in Washington! That's one reason I want a former serviceman, who knows and will uphold the Constitution, to win this next election! The Constitution is precious to me!

I agree that Congressman Herger needs to be able to face his opponents. Is there something that he is afraid of. If you are going to run for office people need to know what you stand for and that goes for any candidate. I have seen Colonel Pete stand on a stage by himself and take questions from an audience for over an hour, when Congressman Herger refused to show up for a debate. I have voted for Colonel Pete the last two times he has run, not only for his polotics, but also for his guts. And as far as the comments about, " is Reed paying you." from Mr. Whitten, I think it would be good for Mr. Whitten to go to the debates if there is one, and maybe he will see that another candidate would be a better congressman.

Debates have always been a healthy way for the voters to get to know the candidates and to learn where they stand on the issues. Colonel Pete is away for the entire weekend at a church retreat. So, I will answer you for the time being. — If you re-read the article, your question will be answered as to who Colonel Pete is. (Begin with paragraph nine) ——- As to your criticism of not mentioning Mr. Reed's so-called "rumor-mongering"…"'the' subject" of the commentary was Mr. Herger's refusal to be in ANY campaign debates. Mr. Herger's handy-dandy, & fainthearted, rule against debating fellow Republicans protects him from having to prove himself before the voters. He will avoid facing any of the three Republican candidates presently running against him (in 2012) who would most likely want explanations for his sometimes very liberal votes. Herger's occasional and sudden departure from voting as a conservative, and capitalist, disturbs many conservatives. That is probably why Mr. Herger has garnered more Republican opponents than usual.
